Volunteer Learn to Ride Instructor Orientation is Saturday, April 22nd, 12:00pm-2:00pm at our Minneapolis shop – 1915 E 22nd St, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
**We will be using bikes and helmets for the training, so let us know beforehand if you need to borrow one.**
This orientation goes over each step that we use to help Learn to Ride participants start riding a bike. Since biking is mostly about balance, we use a curriculum that uses a hands-off technique that focuses on students finding their own balance first, before even touching the pedals. This makes learning how to pedal and the rest of the skills involved in learning to ride safer and faster for everyone!
Once you complete the training, you can sign up for a full session (or two) that you can commit to during the summer. There are usually 2 volunteers at each class. You can choose between the morning class: 10:00am-11:30am or the afternoon class: 12:00pm-1:30pm.
This is a mandatory orientation for all new individuals interested in being a Learn to Ride instructor this year. During the season, we ask volunteers to be able to commit to teaching one entire class session, held once a week for 4 weeks. Volunteer consistency is essential to building trust and confidence with the participants, which makes them more successful!
These are the sessions for 2017 (each session starts the 1st Saturday of that month):
May 6, 13, 20, 27
June 3, 10, 17, 24
July 1, 8, 15, 22
August 5, 12, 19, 26
