Job Posting: Bike Grant Program Mechanic

Primary Duties:

  • Repair used bicycles for free bike program to a high degree of quality that ensures the safety and reliability of each bike
  • Meet deadlines for bike repair schedule and keep an up-to-date inventory of the stock of bicycles
  • Perform tune-ups on Bike Library participant bikes
  • Keep the shop clean and orderly
  • Help with shop projects as needed, including organizing storage or preparing bikes for recycling
  • As interest and skills dictate, support additional direct programming by teaching classes and staffing programming like C4C’s free Open Shop
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings and other appropriate organizational planning meetings


  • Demonstrated professional-level expertise in bike mechanics and repair
  • A minimum of 2 years bike shop experience
  • Experience and knowledge of older bicycles (pre-1995)
  • Commitment to excellent quality control in all bike repair
  • Commitment to bikes as a sustainable, healthy, reliable transportation option
  • Ability to commit to working for a minimum of 12 weeks after start date
  • Ability to explicitly talk about racial, economic, and gender justice and equity in the biking movement preferred

Holidays Hours/Closing Starts Next Week


Our St. Paul and Minneapolis shops will be closed Tues., Dec. 22 through Sun., Jan. 3. There will be no retail hours or shop programming at the St. Paul shop during this time and no shop programming at the Minneapolis shop. Minneapolis retail will be open Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 from 10a-5p. We will resume normal hours and programming in both shops on Mon., Jan. 4, 2016. Thank you!


Youth Bike Summit 2016 Call for Workshop Proposals


Have an awesome idea for a workshop about bicycling and social justice? The Youth Bike Summit is now accepting workshop proposal applications for the 2016 summit to be held on May 27-29, 2016 in St. Paul, MN, hosted by Cycles for Change. We are particularly excited about youth-led and interactive workshops. Deadline to submit workshop proposals is Feb. 12, 2016. Please share this with anyone you think is interested in presenting!
